Rowe's hat trick leads No. 5 Mountain Lions to 4-2 win over Lincoln Memorial

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Mikie Rowe scored three goals to lead No. 5 Young Harris College to a 4-2 non-conference men's soccer victory over Lincoln Memorial University Saturday (Sept. 8) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 4-0-0, while the Railsplitters fell to 1-1-1. Young Harris returns to action Tuesday (Sept. 11) for a 7 p.m. match against Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Young Harris wasted little time after the one hour, 35 minute delay at the start due to lightning in the area. Mehdy Hidane was fouled in the box 57 seconds into the match and Rowe was able to convert the penalty kick into the bottom left corner of the net for a 1-0 Mountain Lion lead. Lincoln Memorial tied the match at 1 14 minutes later as Matteo Bufalo tapped in a cross from six yards out from Miguel Reis cross.

However, the Mountain Lions reclaimed the lead at 2-1 at the 25:52 mark. Dani Fischer sent in a cross from the right side to Kevin Coiffic at the left post. Coiffic's shot was deflected by the LMU keeper right to Rowe at the right post and he knocked in for the score. Rowe, who has scored eight goals in four matches this season, closed out the scoring in the first half on another penalty kick at the 41:17 mark. The penalty was set up after Seba Andreassen was taken down in the box.

The Railsplitters got a goal back in the 73rd minute on a Ueslei Silva goal. Silva's goal came off a long throw from the right side and was deflected by a YHC defender trying to clear it out of the box; however, it went to Silva near the right post and he was able to put in in the goal.

Young Harris added an insurance goal at the 82:05 mark on Sondre Olsen's first goal. Olsen's goal was a rebound off Carlos Gomez's initial shot the LMU keeper couldn't corral.

Young Harriis held a 10-6 advantage on shots and an 8-6 margin on corner kicks.  Alex Iglesias had one save in goal for the Mountain Lions, while Caleb Cothrin had three stops for LMU.
