GREENEVILLE, Tenn. | The Young Harris College men's soccer team registered their third consecutive shutout as the Mountain Lions recorded a 4-0 non-conference victory over Tusculum University Wednesday (Sept. 5) evening at Pioneer Field.
The fifth-ranked Mountain Lions improved to 3-0-0, while the Pioneers fell to 2-1-0. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (Sept. 8) when they host Lincoln Memorial University in a 3:30 p.m. match at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
Mikie Rowe added two goals to lead the Mountain Lions, while
Carlos Gomez added a goal and two assists.
Rowe got Young Harris out to a quick 1-0 lead when he got a through ball from Gomez and beat the Tusculum keeper to the far side just 2:25 into the match.
The Mountain Lions broke the game open with three second half goals.
Val Feeney doubled the YHC advantage at the 54:50 mark as he blasted a shot to the top right corner of the goal from 25 yards out off a Gomez assist. Rowe added his fifth goal of 2018 on a header off a cross from
Dani Fischer that was set up by
Seba Andreassen at the 75:09 mark. Gomez concluded the scoring in the 84th minute as he stole a misplayed pass back to the Tusculum goalie and chipped it in to an open goal. It was Gomez's fourth score this season.

Alex Iglesias recorded his third clean sheet of the season after stopping all five shots he faced.
Young Harris held an 11-10 advantage on shots and a 5-4 margin on corner kicks.
