GREENWOOD, S.C. | Lander University recorded a 3-0 Peach Belt Conference women's soccer victory over Young Harris College Saturday (Sept. 29) afternoon at Van Taylor Stadium.
The Bearcats improved to 7-1-1 overall and to 2-1-1 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 2-5-0 and 1-3-0. Young Harris steps out of conference play Tuesday (Oct. 2) for a 4 p.m. contest in Orangleburg, South Carolina, against NCAA Division I South Carolina State University.
Brianna Taylor scored the first two goals for the Bearcats. She teammed up with Kylee Eppl for the first goal at the 19:30 mark. Taylor added her sixth goal of the year off an assist from Emily Jermstad at the 54:17 mark. Jermstad scored an unassisted goal in the 70th minute for the final score.
Lander held a 15-10 advantage on shots.
Miranda Simpson and
Lucero Robayo had two shots each, while
Britt Verstegen,
Baylee Roche,
Lailah Muscat,
Maria Guzman,
Tenysha Taylor and
Bianey Serrano had one apiece for the Mountain Lions.
Alyssa Spridgeon had four saves in goal for Young Harris, while Sarah Owen had three for Lander.
