Miranda Simpson added another goal as the Young Harris College women's soccer team defeated NCAA Division I South Carolina State University 3-0 in a non-conference match Tuesday (Oct. 2) afternoon.
The Mountain Lions improved to 3-5-0, while the Bulldogs remained winless in eight tries. Young Harris steps back into Peach Belt Conference action Saturday (Oct. 6) at 3 p.m. when they host Georgia Southwestern State University at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
Roche got YHC a 1-0 lead at the 38:05 mark off a
Lucero Robayo assist. The Mountain Lions doubled their lead at the 61:32 mark when Simpson scored her first goal of the season off an
Elin Pedersen assist. Roche notched her team-leading fourth goal of 2018 to give Young Harris a 3-0 lead 16 minutes later on a Simpson assist. It was Roche's second multi-goal match of the season.
Alyssa Spridgeon recorded her first shutout of the season for the Mountain Lions, who picked up their third clean sheet of the year.
