YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Columbus State University struck three times in the second half to get past Young Harris College 3-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Wednesday (Sept. 26) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Cougars, who are ranked No. 3 nationally, improved to 6-0-1 overall and 3-0-0 in the PBC while the Mountain Lions fell to 2-4-0 and 1-2-0. Young Harris returns to action Saturday as they travel to Greenwood, South Carolina, to take on Lander University in a 1 p.m. Peach Belt contest.
Columbus State scored their first goal in the 50th minute after a YHC defender tried to the clear the ball off a corner kick by Tehgan Anguilm. Brooke Nail scored the second goal for the Cougars 24 seconds later off an assist by Maddy Peterson. Riley Clark scored her fifth goal of the season for CSU at the 58:14 mark off assists by Peterson and Olivia Jarrell.
Alyssa Spridgeon picked up five saves in goal for the Mountain Lions. Bria Riancho recorded a clean slate for the Cougars as YHC was held to four shots.
Lucero Robayo had two shots for Young Harris, while
Tenysha Taylor and
Baylee Roche recorded one each.
