YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Carlos Gomez scored twice to lead No. 3 Young Harris College to a 2-1 non-conference men's soccer victory over Lenoir-Rhyne University Wednesday (Sept. 26) evening at Bears Field at the Moretz Sports Athletic Complex.
The Mountain Lions improved to 8-0-0, while the Bears fell to 3-3-0. It was a rematch of last season's first-round match of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional that Young Harris won 2-0. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (Sept. 29) at 7 p.m. when they host Georgia Southwestern State University in a Peach Belt Conference match at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

Mikie Rowe cross after he beat the Lenoir-Rhyne goalkeeper to the bottom right corner of the goal.
The Bears tied the match at 1 in the opening minutes of the second half as Victor Cascon scored off a pass from Goncalo Garcia; however, Gomez gave the Mountain Lions the lead for good at the 55:36 mark. Gomez scored his seventh goal of the season off a goalie clear and put it into an empty net.
Lenoir-Rhyne held an 11-9 advantage on shots, but the Mountain Lions had a 4-3 edge on goal. Each team accounted for three corner kicks apiece.
