YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Sara Sandberg scored two second-half goals as Flagler College recorded a 2-0 Peach Belt Conference women's soccer victory over Young Harris College Saturday (Sept. 15) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Saints improved to 3-1-0 overall and to 1-0-0 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions slipped to 1-3-0 and 0-1-0. Young Harris returns to action Friday (Sept. 21) when they travel to Florence, South Carolina, for a 3:30 p.m. PBC contest against Francis Marion University.
Sandberg, who has five goals for Flagler this season, got the Saints a 1-0 lead when she converted a through ball from teammate Charlene Nowotny at the 65:27 mark. Sandberg added an insurance goal seven minutes later off a cross from Maria Castorino Mujica.
The Mountain Lions collected eight shots, including four from
Baylee Roche.
Tenysha Taylor added two shots, while
Maria Guzman and
Lucero Robayo had one apiece.
Pien Van Kampen had six saves in goal for the Mountain Lions, while Sarah-Lisa Dubel had three for Flagler.
