Rowe, Gomez lead No. 11 Mountain Lions past Southern Wesleyan 5-0

CENTRAL, S.C. | Mikie Rowe and Carlos Gomez each scored twice to lead the Young Harris College men's soccer team to a 5-0 non-conference victory over Southern Wesleyan University Saturday (Sept. 1) evening at Childs Field.

The No. 11-ranked Mountain Lions improved to 2-0-0, while the Warriors fell to 0-2-0. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (Sept. 5) when they travel to Greeneville, Tennessee, for a 7 p.m. encounter with Tusculum University.

The Mountain Lions, who outshot Southern Wesleyan 19-2 (13-1 on goal), broke through on Seba Andreassen's first goal of the season off a Dani Fischer assist at the 24:28 mark. Less than five minutes later, Rowe scored his first goal of the night off an Alex Jacq assist.

Young Harris broke open the match with three goals in an 11-minute span in the early moments on the second half. Gomez scored the first of his two goals at the 58:40 mark off an Andreassen assist. James Thomas connected with Rowe on his second goal five minutes later to give the Mountain Lions a 4-0 lead. Gomez concluded the scoring with his other strike off an Alex Gschwend assist.
