YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College got five goals each from
Nicole Kernohan and
Rachel Lepine as Young Harris College captured its third consecutive Gulf South Conference Women's Lacrosse Invitational Tournament with a dominant 20-6 win over the University of Alabama in Huntsville Sunday (April 29) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The top-seeded Mountain Lions, who are the only ones to win the GSC Tournament title, ended their season at 14-5. The 14 wins by YHC broke the program record for victories in a season, surpassing the 13 won by the 2016 edition. The Chargers, who have lost Young Harris in each of the three GSC Tournament finals contested, ended their season at 13-5.

Kendra Parenteau and Kernohan along with Lepine, who was honored as the All-GSC Tournament MVP, and
Hayley Bartlett each found the back of the net for Young Harris.
After a UAH score, the Mountain Lions again reeled off four more goals to open up an 8-1 lead with 11:11 to go in the opening half. Kernohan scored the first two while Bartlett and
Anna Luckie added the others.
The Chargers got the next two goals to pull within 8-3, but the Mountain Lions finished out the half by scoring the final four goals to take a 12-3 halftime lead. Lepine scored twice and
Channing Milford added another one before Kernohan scored the final goal as time expired.
UAH scored three of the first four goals in the second half to pull within 13-6 with 18:48 remaining in the contest; however, that would be the final UAH goal of the season as Young Harris closed out the match by scoring the final seven goals.
Young Harris held a 42-32 margin in shots and a 14-12 edge in draw controls, while UAH had a 15-14 advantage in ground balls.Â
Luckie finished with four goals for the Mountain Lions, while Bartlett and Parenteau had two each.
Erika Cross and Milford had one apiece in the win. Bartlett and Cross each dished out two assists, while Luckie, Milford and
Leigh Anne Turner has one each.
Lepine led the way with seven draw controls, while Luckie,
Maddie Peek, and
Meghan Tonnesen, who was also named to the all-tournament team, each had two. Parenteau had four ground balls, while
Julia Darroch, Kernohan, and Cross each scooped up two ground balls.
Darroch, who was also named to the All-GSCÂ Tournament team, as she stopped a career-high 22 shots in goal for the Mountain Lions.
