YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.  |  Cory Ewald hit his team-leading fourth home run of the season in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead Young Harris College past Lenoir-Rhyne University 7-6 in a non-conference baseball game Wednesday (March 14) evening at Zell B. Miller Field. 

The Mountain Lions improved to 11-11, while the Bears fell to 17-9. Young Harris returns to action Friday (March 16) as they travel to Florence, South Carolina, to open up a three-game Peach Belt Conference series against Francis Marion University. 

Lenoir-Rhyne capitalized off of four Mountain Lion errors in the first inning as they brought three unearned runs across the plate. 

Logan Worley tied the game at 3 for Young Harris in the bottom of the second inning with a bases-clearing double to left field.

A single to left field for Aaron Stamper gave the Bears a 4-3 lead in the top of the third inning.

Ewald drew a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to tie the game at 4 in the bottom half of the third for the Mountain Lions. Corley Reynolds gave Young Harris a 5-4 lead later in the inning with a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Jackson Jones. 

Justin Dean tied the game at 5 for Lenoir-Rhyne in the top of the sixth inning with a RBI groundout to shortstop that scored Brock Johnson. 

The Bears took a 6-5 lead in the top of the ninth inning off a solo home run by Stamper. 

Rudy Gaona hit a single up the middle with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to keep the game going for the Mountain Lions.  Ewald sent the 0-1 pitch over the left field fence for the game-ending two run homer. 

Steven Eichhorn (1-1) picked up his first win of the season for Young Harris as he allowed one run on one hit with one walk and one strikeout in three innings of relief. 

Ewald tallied one hit, three RBI and one run scored. Gaona went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored. Worley collected two hits and three RBI. Royce Woolfolk had two hits and one run scored while Reynolds had one RBI and one run scored. 

Landon Whitson (2-1) earned the loss for Lenoir-Rhyne as he allowed two runs on two hits with one strikeout in 0.2 innings pitched
