SAINT LEO, Fla. | Saint Leo University recorded a 4-0 victory over Young Harris College Friday (Feb. 9) evening at University Softball Stadium in the opener of three-game series
The No. 23 Lions improved to 6-1 on the season, while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-2. The teams will wrap up the series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday (Feb. 10).
Alison Mitts (3-0) got the win for Saint Leo as she allowed five hits and struck out five in 6.1 innings pitched.
The Lions scored two runs off a single up the middle by Sarah Pauscher to take a 2-0 lead. Saint Leo added to their lead in the fifth inning after a single up the middle by Ashley Morris that scored Kacie Kelly. Morris scored on the throw of a stolen base by Shyanne DuBois that rounded out the scoring.
Morris went 2-for-2 at the plate with a RBI and two runs scored. Pauscher went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI while DuBois picked up two hits and a run scored.
Dharma Rosbrugh (2-1) earned her first loss of the season as she allowed four runs on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts over four innings pitched.
Kristan Lizardi picked up two hits for Young Harris while
Emily Harris,
Murphy Davis, and
Haylie Shope each had one hit.
