SALISBURY, N.C. | Young Harris College swept a non-conference softball doubleheader from Catawba College Sunday (Feb. 25) afternoon at Whitley Field.

Georgia Webb and
Grace Botti propelled the Mountain Lions past the Indians in game one 9-3 before taking game two 7-2.
Young Harris improved to 11-6 on the season while Catawba fell to 8-6. Young Harris returns to action Thursday (March 1) as they host Union University (Tenn.) in a noon doubleheader.
Haylie Shope started the scoring in game one for the Mountain Lions with with a sacrifice fly to left field in the top of the third inning that scored
Murphy Davis.
Catawba took the lead (2-1) in the bottom half of the inning after Taylor Martin reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Allie Baker to score.
Kristan Lizardi scored on a passed ball in the top of the fourth to tie the score at 2 for Young Harris.
Delane Smith once again put the Indians ahead (3-2) after a solo home run in the bottom half of the fourth.
Webb tied the game at 3 for the Mountain Lions in the fifth with a solo home run, her first of the season. Botti gave Young Harris the lead for good (5-3) with a two-run home run, her first of the season.
Hannah Harrison started a four-run seventh inning for the Mountain Lions after scoring on a passed ball. Botti then came around to score on a single to right field by Davis.
Madison Urquiola scored after Shope reached on an error. Lizardi ended the scoring after coming around on a passed ball.
Kennedy Kotula (4-2) earned the complete-game victory for the Young Harris as she allowed three runs on six hits with three strikeouts.
Botti went 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored. Webb finished with two hits, one RBI and one run scored. Lizardi went 4-for-4 with two runs scored while Davis picked up two hits, a RBI and a run scored.
Madison Hunter (4-1) picked up the loss for Catawba as she gave up one run on three hits over 2.1 innings pitched.
The Mountain Lions jumped to an early lead (2-0) in game two after Davis scored on a RBI single to right center by Shope. Later in the inning,
Emily Harris scored off a sacrifice fly by
Jill Torres.
Young Harris added to their lead (3-0) in the third after a RBI groundout to second by
Georgia Webb that scored Harris.
The Indians scored a pair of runs in the fifth inning with a RBI groundouts by Carlee Brawley and Baker.
The Mountain Lions scored four runs in the top of the seventh that started with a RBI single to center field that scored
Sara Alderman and Davis scored on an error.
Torres ended the scoring with a two RBI single center field that scored Webb and Shope.
Dharma Rosbrugh (6-3) picked up the complete-game win in game two for Young Harris as she allowed two runs on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Shope went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and a run scored. Torres also collected two hits and three RBI for the Mountain Lions. Harris and Urquiola tallied two hits apiece while Davis had had one hit and two runs scored.
Walser (3-4) earned the loss for Catawba as she allowed seven runs (six earned) on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts in seven innings pitched.
