YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's basketball team fell to Emmanuel (Ga.) College 54-41 in day two of the Peach Belt-Conference Carolinas Challenge Saturday (Nov. 10) afternoon at the YHC Basketball Arena.
The Lions improved to 1-1 on the season, while the Mountain Lions fell to 0-2. Young Harris returns to action Monday (Nov. 12) as they travel to Cullowhee, North Carolina, to take on NCAA Division I opponent Western Carolina University at the Ramsey Center.
The Mountain Lions opened up to a 7-0 lead 4:20 into the first quarter after a three-pointer by
Dee Dee McLane.
Avery Jordan gave Young Harris a six point lead (12-6) with a three-pointer with 1:06 to go in the quarter.
Hope Forrester gave Emmanuel a one point lead (17-16) after a jumper 4:22 into the second quarter.
Pamela Diokpara regained the lead for the Mountain Lions (18-17) with a jumper at the 4:12 mark.
The Lions went on a 15-0 run over the next 7:48 to take a 32-18 lead. Emmanuel outscored Young Harris 15-14 in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Taylor Delasbour led the way for the Lions with 11 points and three rebounds, while Hanna Grogan scored 10 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Lochlain Corliss tallied eight points, four assists, and five steals.
Diokpara recorded her second double-double of the season for the Mountain Lions with 13 points and 11 rebounds. McLane added 12 points and four rebounds, while
Haylie Shope tallied six points and 10 rebounds.
