YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. |
Taylor Eller scored midway through the first overtime to give the Florida Institute of Technology a 2-1 non-conference women's soccer victory over Young Harris College Friday (Sept. 8) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

Florida Tech improved to 2-1-0 while Young Harris fell to 1-2-0. The Mountain Lions return to action Sunday (Sept. 10) in Harrogate, Tennessee, against Lincoln Memorial at 1 p.m.

Cristina Moreno scored her first goal of the season in the 76th minute on a header that was set up by Maria Martinez's corner kick from the left side. Florida Tech answered back with a goal of its own 30 seconds later. Maria Munoz played a through ball to Keira McCarthy in box and knocked it in the left corner of the net. Eller scored the game-winning goal for the Panthers in the 94th minute after a deflection in the box.

Florida Tech had the edge on shots 17-7, but only a 7-5 advantage on shots that were on goal. Nicole Medeiros had five saves for the Mountain Lions, while Karlyn Prisco had four for the Panthers.
