No. 19 Mountain Lions push win streak to five with 3-2 win over USC Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. | Alex Jacq scored with just over 11 minutes remaining to give Young Harris College a 3-2 Peach Belt Conference men's soccer victory over the University of South Carolina Aiken Saturday (Sept. 30) afternoon at the Pacer Pit.

The 19th-ranked Mountain Lions improved to 7-1-1 overall and to 3-0-0 inside the Peach Belt, while the Pacers fell to 3-4-1 and 1-2-0. Young Harris will continue its road trip to Gaffney, South Carolina, for a 6 p.m. non-conference match Wednesday (Oct. 4) against No. 14 Limestone College.

The teams battled through a scoreless first half before Aaron Richard scored off a Jorvel Tobierre corner kick just 106 seconds into the second half to give the Pacers a 1-0 lead. Mikie Rowe got the Mountain Lions back square at 1 17 minutes later as he scored from eight yards out. The Mountain Lions took the lead at 2-1 on Rowe goal from the right side at the 69:41 mark. It was his fourth goal of 2017.

The Pacers leveled the match at 2 on a Roberto Biendicho goal five minutes later. However, the Mountain Lions rallied one last time. Jacq scored his first goal of the season at the 78:42 mark from 15 yards on the right side and buried it in the lower left corner of the goal.

YHC held a 10-9 margin on shots and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. Alex Iglesias had two saves in goal for the Mountain Lions while Chase Boulton had four for the Pacers.
