OUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's soccer team shut out Auburn University at Montgomery 2-0 in the home opener Sunday (Sept. 3) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 1-1-0 while the Warhawks fell to 1-1-0. Young Harris returns to action Friday (Sept. 8) at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field in a 7 p.m. contest against Florida Tech.
Emily Ober scored her first goal of the season in the 53rd minute after a turnover in the backfield where she sent the ball into the right corner of the net from 18 yards out.
Eduarda Chagas added to the Mountain Lion lead with her first goal of the season in the 82nd minute following a shot by
Miranda Simpson.
Nicole Medeiros had six saves for Young Harris as she picked up her first shut out of the season while Felicia Wester had five saves for Auburn Montgomery. The Warhawks had the edge on shots 13-12.
