YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Lucero Robayo scored two goals for the Young Harris College women's soccer team as they shut out Albany State University 4-0 Wednesday (Sept. 20) evening in a non-conference match at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 3-2-1 while the Golden Rams fell to 0-5-0. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (Sept. 27) as they host cross-mountain rival University of North Georgia in the Battle of Blood Mountain at 5 p.m.
Emily Ober scored her second goal of the season for the Mountain Lions in the ninth minute with a chip in to the left corner of the net after a cross from Robayo.
Baylee Roche scored her third goal of the season 58 seconds later, beating the keeper to the left off an assist by
Maria Martinez.
Robayo scored her first goal of the year at the 37:14 mark after a steal in the backfield then beating the keeper to the right. Robayo scored her second goal of the match and second of the season in the 72nd minute off a direct kick from the deep left corner that went of the goalkeeper's hands at the near post.
Nicole Medeiros earned the shutout victory - her third of the season - for Young Harris with five saves. Abby Whiteside had 14 saves for Albany State. The Mountain Lions had a 28-8 advantage on shots and 6-2 on corner kicks.
