YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. |
Baylee Roche scored the lone goal for the Young Harris College women's soccer team as they tied No. 25 Flagler College in 1-1 double overtime draw in the Peach Belt Conference opener Saturday (Sept. 16) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 2-2-1 overall and to 0-0-1 in the Peach Belt, while the Saints went to 4-0-1 and 0-0-1. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (Sept. 20) as they host Albany State University in a 4:30 p.m. non-conference contest.

Roche scored her second goal of the year in the 20th minute - a blast into the top right corner of the net - off a cross by Miranda Simpson. Fio Gustagno tied the game at 1 for the Saints at the 69:00 mark.

Nicole Medeiros had 12 saves for the Mountain Lions, including turning away a penalty kick that would have put Flagler ahead midway through the second half. Sarah-Lisa Dubel recorded eight saves for the Saints. Young Harris had the edge on shots 22-21, including a 5-1 advantage in overtime.
