Young Harris shuts out Eckerd 2-0 in season opener

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. |  Young Harris College  used two goals in the first half and made them stand as the Mountain Lions opened their 2017 men's soccer season with a 2-0 victory over Eckerd College Thursday (Aug. 31) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 1-0 and they will entertain Southern Wesleyan University in a 7 p.m. non-conference match Saturday (Sept. 2).

Young Harris scored at the 20:23 mark when Seba Andreassen knocked in a rebound of Sam Jones' direct kick from just outside of the box that richocheted off the crossbar. The Mountain Lions doubled their lead 23 minutes later when Andreassen fed a ball to Marco Micaletto on the right side and Micaletto kareemed the ball off the far post into the back of the net.

Alex Igelias stopped three shots in goal for Young Harris as he picked up his first clean sheet for the Mountain Lions, while Alex Gott collected six saves for the Tritons. Young Harris held an 18-12 advantage on shots and a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.
