GREENWOOD, S.C. | Lander University swept a Peach Belt Conference baseball doubleheader from Young Harris College Saturday (April 1) afternoon at Dolny Stadium.
The Bearcats, who won by scores of 14-6 and 13-5, improved to 17-16 overall and to 10-7 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 11-20 and 4-10. The teams play the final game of their weekend series Sunday (April 2) at 1 p.m.
Lander scored in every inning but the seventh and eighth as they took advantage of six Mountain Lions errors. 
The Mountain Lions scored their first run in their opening at-bat. 
Zach Odom led off with a triple and scored on 
Nick Sexton's ground out. Young Harris scored in the fifth on a 
Zach Wall ground out. 
Rudy Gaona added an RBI infield single in the seventh before Young Harris scored three times in the ninth. 
Zach Beggs drove home the first run with a double to left and 
Tyler Washington added a two-run single to left.
Odom, Wall and Gaona had two hits apiece for the Mountain Lions, who had 12 as a team.
Brian Syphoe (0-1) absorbed the loss for the Mountain Lions, while Cameron Tekker (4-0) earned the win. Tripper Ergle earned his first save with four innings of relief.
Lander hit four home runs in the nightcap. The Bearcats broke open the game in the bottom of the third, scoring four runs as Carson Jones, Nathan Schreckengost and Bailey Connell all went deep against Hunter Graham (1-3). Schreckengost added a grand slam in the eighth inning.
Young Harris got two runs in the fourth on Beggs' team-leading 11th homer to right field. 
Brett Westmoreland added an RBI single in the sixth. Washington added an sacrifice fly in the ninth. 
Beggs had two of the eight hits for the Mountain Lions in game two.
Sam Lin (1-5) earned the win, striking out seven in seven innings.
