YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College softball team scored in every inning as the Mountain Lions wrapped up play at the YHC Softball Tournament Sunday (Feb. 26) afternoon with a 13-1 five-inning decision over Brevard College at E.D. Rivers Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 14-0, while the Tornados fell to 1-5. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (March 1) for a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee.Â
Every starter but one collected at least one hit in the game and five players had at least two hits as the Mountain Lions had 15 hits. Seven of the nine starters drove in a run as Young Harris scored five runs in both the first and second innings.Â
Jeanie Perrucci and
Hannah Harrison led Young Harris with three hits, while
Murphy Davis,
Aubrey Crowell and
Kelsey Nix had two apiece. Crowell and Nix led the way with 3 RBI each, while Harrison and
Grace Botti drove in two runs apiece. Harrison, Botti, Davis,
Jill Torres, Crowell and Nix each busted out a double in the win.
Nikkie Kovalsky (7-0) struck out seven and didn't allow a hit in three innings.Â
