YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Spencer Mossburg and Geremy Walton each hit a home run and combined to drive in seven runs as Lee University picked up an 11-2 non-conference baseball victory over Young Harris College Tuesday (Feb. 21) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.
The Flames improved to 10-2, while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-8. Young Harris returns to action Friday (Feb. 24) at 5 p.m. when they travel to Aiken, South Carolina, to open a three-game Peach Belt Conference weekend series against No. 10-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken.
Lee opened up a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Mossburg, who went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, started the scoring with a two-run homer to left-center field. It was his third long ball of the season. Walton, who went 2-for-4 with 4 RBI, followed with a solo shot to center field off YHC starter McLean Harris (0-4). It was his fourth homer in 2017.
Young Harris scored its two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Royce Woolfolk had an RBI single down the right field line for the first run, while
Luke Miller drove in the other run on an infield single to third.
Zach Odom led the Mountain Lions, who had eight hits in the game, with two hits. In addition to Woolfolk and Miller, Young Harris got hits from
Zach Wall,
Cory Ewald,
Tyler Washington and
Adrik Yacelga.
Corbin Lamb (3-0) earned the win with 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
