YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's basketball team led wire-to-wire in a 91-55 Peach Belt Conference victory over Georgia Southwestern State University Saturday (Feb. 18) afternoon at the YHC Basketball Arena.
The Mountain Lions improved to 15-11 overall and moved into fifth place in the PBC West Division - just a half game out of third place - with a 9-8 mark. The Hurricanes fell to 7-18 and 5-13. Young Harris has a 7:30 p.m. makeup game against Lander University Monday (Feb. 20) in a key league tilt.
Young Harris, which shot 50.8 percent (32-of-63) from the field, led 45-23 at the half and led by as many as 36 points in the second half.Â
The Mountain Lions recognized their five seniors -
Darrius Sizemore,
Marques McKoy,
Marcellus Roberts,
Bjorn Walker and
C.J. Wilson - prior to the game and all made an impact on the game. McKoy led Young Harris with 14 points and 11 rebounds, including eight offensive rebounds. Wilson added 12 points and five assists, while Sizemore added 10 points. Roberts tallied nine points and five rebounds, while Walker contributed seven points and five rebounds.Â
Corey Nelson scored 12 points for the Mountain Lions and grabbed five rebounds while
Ben Waterhouse added 10 points and five assists.
Tyrone Wooren led the Hurricanes with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Cameron Dozier added 11 points.
