YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.  |
Baylee Roche scored the lone goal for the Young Harris College women's soccer team en route to defeating Lander University 1-0 in a Peach Belt Conference contest Saturday (Oct. 14) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 7-3-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the Peach Belt while Lander fell to 7-5-0 and 3-4-0. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (Oct. 18) as they travel Morrow, Georgia, to take on Clayton State University in a 5 p.m. PBC match.

Roche's team leading seventh goal of the season came in the 10th minute off a long ball from 20 yards out by Lucero Robayo. Roche collected the ball and sent it into the middle of the net.

Young Harris, which outshot Lander 17-3, had a couple more chances to add to the lead, but drew iron. Roche hit the post in the middle of the first half, while Tenysha Taylor nailed the crossbar in the second half.

Nicole Medeiros picked up her sixth shutout of the season for Young Harris, which leads the conference. Medeiros recorded two saves for the Mountain Lions while Sarah Owen saved nine for the Bearcats.
