SAINT LEO, Fla. | Rollins College defeated Young Harris College 2-0 in a battle between two nationally ranked men's soccer teams Sunday (Sept. 4) afternoon at the Saint Leo Soccer Field on the final day of the Saint Leo Invitational.
The Tars, who are ranked 17th in the preseason NSCAA National Rankings for NCAA Division II, improved to 1-1-0 while the No. 9-ranked Mountain Lions fell to 0-2-0. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (Sept. 7) when they open the home portion of the schedule with a 7:30 p.m. contest against Lee University at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
Tosan Popo scored at the 18:43 mark off an assist from Ben Grant to open up a 1-0 lead for Rollins. Young Harris was forced to play a man down for the final 43 minutes after a player was sent off. Rollins added an insurance goal at the 51:18 mark on a score by Stefan Avram off an assist by Grant.
Anton Viden stopped five shots in goal for the Mountain Lions while Drew Trautmann earned the shutout for the Tars with six saves.
