DUE WEST, S.C. | Young Harris College scored five times in the first half as the Mountain Lions opened the 2016 women's soccer campaign with a 6-0 shutout over Erskine College Saturday (Sept. 3) afternoon at Huggins Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 1-0-0 while the Flying Fleet fell to 0-2-0. Young Harris returns to action Thursday (Sept. 8) for a 5:30 p.m. Central time contest against Auburn University Montgomery in Montgomery, Alabama.

Christiane Lessa, dominated Erskine. The Mountain Lions outshot the Flying Fleet 21-0, including a 14-0 advantage on shots on goal. YHC also held an 8-2 difference in corner kicks against Erskine.
The Mountain Lions took control of the match as they scored three times in the first seven minutes of the match.
Rachel Hill started the scoring at the 2:17 mark off an
Emily Ober assist.
Baylee Roche, who also had two assists, made it 2-0 two minutes later. YHC took a 3-0 lead at the 6:20 mark on the first of two
Amber Matthews goals.
Lays Freitas scored off an
Lucero Robayo assist at the 28:51 mark. The two teamed up 52 seconds before halftime as Robayo struck off a Freitas assist.
Nicole Medeiros,
Kylie Mason and
Sara Sims combined to record the shutout in goal for the Mountain Lions.
