MONTEVALLO, Ala. | Kendra Parenteau scored six goals as the Young Harris College women's lacrosse team recorded a 20-5 Gulf South Conference victory over the University of Montevallo Sunday (April 10) at the Lacrosse Stadium.
The Mountain Lions improved to 10-5 overall and to 2-0 in the conference while the Falcons fell to 6-10 and 0-3. Young Harris will have a chance to claim the inaugural Gulf South title Saturday (April 16) when they travel to Rome, Georgia, for a 5 p.m. match against rival Shorter University. The winner of the GSC regular season title will also host the GSC Invitational Championship, which will be played April 22 and 24.

Young Harris held the Falcons without a goal for nearly 34 minutes as the Mountain Lions scored the game's first 14 goals.

The Mountain Lions held a 35-13 advantage in shots and an 18-9 lead over the Falcons in ground balls. YHC also scooped up 32 ground balls.

Sarah Bialecki also added three goals for the Mountain Lions while
Erika Cross,
Maddie Peek,
Jaclyn Kernohan and
Kaylynn Roach found the back of the net twice apiece.
Rachel Lepine,
Katie McNutt and
Channing Milford accounted for the other Mountain Lion scores. Bialecki, Cross and
Meghan Tonnesen recorded two assists while Kernohan, Lepine, McNutt and Peek had one each.

Tonnesen won five draw controls while Lepine added four more. Milford contributed three draw controls and Cross tallied two. Lepine, Peek,
Julia Darroch and
Jordana Freitas each scooped up three ground balls to lead YHC.

Darroch got the win in goal for the Mountain Lions as she stopped four shots.
