YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College scored 12 of the first 13 goals as the Mountain Lions soared by Reinhardt University in a men's lacrosse match Wednesday (March 30) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 7-4 while the Eagles, who are ranked No. 7 in the NAIA, fell to 8-6. Young Harris will return to action Saturday (April 2) in Banner Elk, North Carolina, for a noon match against Lees-McRae College.
Michael Gernatt and
Jayden Campbell paced the Mountain Lions, who took a 6-1 lead at halftime and extended it to a 12-1 lead late in the third quarter, with three goals apiece.
Mitch McDole,
Chandler Bradley,
Connor Pittman and
Joe Appolonia found the back of the goal twice for Young Harris.
Garrett Blake led the Mountain Lions, who outshot the Eagles 42-20, Â with four assists while
Ian Hurley and
Mason McBroom had one apiece.
Kerry Ostrowski, who caused three turnovers, scooped up four ground balls while McDole picked up three with
Ryan Pickowitz,
Zach Hemans, Hurley,
Zac Barrett and McBroom had two ground balls each. Barrett won 10 of the 19 face-offs in the match.
Pickowitz (six),
Sean Dever (two) and
Alex Schneider (one) combined to stop nine shots in goal for the Mountain Lions.
