YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College and Brevard split a softball doubleheader Wednesday (Feb. 17) afternoon at E.D. Rivers Field.

The Mountain Lions won the opener 6-1 before falling to the Tornados in game two.

Young Harris improved to 11-3 while Brevard advanced to 3-5. The Mountain Lions travel to Mars Hill, North Carolina, Saturday (Feb. 21) when they will face Mars Hill University in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.

The Mountain Lions scored twice in the first and second innings of the opener as the Mountain Lions jumped out to a 4-1 lea.
Jeanie Perrucci and
Sarah Magill had back-to-back RBI doubles in the first inning while
Murphy Davis added a two-run single an inning later.

Young Harris added a run in the fourth on a wild pitch and added an insurance run in the sixth inning on
Georgia Webb's single to left-center field.
Â
Darby Stanford (8-1) earned the win with the complete-game effort, scattering seven hits.

Young Harris collected 13 hits, including three apiece from Perrucci and Webb while
Hannah Harrison, Magill and
Grace Botti banged out two hits each.

The Mountain Lions took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the nightcap on Magill's two-run homer - her team-leading fourth of the season – to left field. Young Harris added two runs in the fourth on Harrison's two-run single to right-center field.

Brevard got two runs back in the fifth on RBI singles by Lauren Parker and Brittan Miller. The Tornados claimed the lead 7-4 with a five-run sixth inning as the Mountain Lions committed three errors.

Perrucci (1-1) took the loss for Young Harris.

Magill led YHC with three hits in game two while Harrison accounted for two.
