YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College and No. 10-ranked Georgia College split a Peach Belt Conference softball doubleheader Saturday (Feb. 27) afternoon at E.D. Rivers Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 12-4 overall and to 1-1 in the Peach Belt while the Bobcats fell to 14-3 and 1-1. Young Harris travels to Anderson, South Carolina, Wednesday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader against Anderson (S.C.) University.

YHC jumped out to 2-0 lead in the first inning of the opener as the Mountain Lions took advantage of two Georgia College miscues. After the Bobcats got a run back in the third, Young Harris scored three times to take a 5-1 lead. Georgia Webb had an RBI double, while Lindsay Tudor added a sacrifice fly. Chandler Stooksbury closed out the scoring with a run-scoring single to left.

The Bobcats scored twice in the top of the sixth inning, but Magill smacked a three-run shot to center field off Bobcat reliever Brooke Taylor in the bottom half of the inning to give the Mountain Lions an 8-3 lead.

Murphy Davis and Webb led the Mountain Lions with two hits each.

Darby Stanford (9-1) scattered five hits and struck out eight in the complete-game effort while Marisa Boyette (5-2) absorbed the loss.
