COLUMBUS, Ga. | The Young Harris College softball team used four home runs as they won two more games Sunday (Feb. 14) afternoon at the CSU Cougar Classic being played at the South Commons Softball Complex.

The Mountain Lions the opener 7-0 over Miles College while Young Harris defeated Bellarmine University 14-4 in the nightcap.

Young Harris improved to 10-2 with the sweep and they will return to E.D. Rivers Field Tuesday (Feb. 16) when they will host Brevard College in a 3 p.m. doubleheader.

The Mountain Lions were staked to a 2-0 lead against Miles in the top of the first as the Golden Bears allowed a run on a fielding error and another run to score on a wild pitch.

Young Harris starter
Darby Stanford stymied the Miles offense, holding the Golden Bears to two hits and striking out a season-high nine. She didn't allow any hits after the second inning.

The Mountain Lions exploded for five insurance runs in the top of the seventh against Miles starter Talana Brown. After a leadoff single by
Chandler Stooksbury,
Rachel Jarvis blasted a two-run homer to left field.
Jeanie Perrucci added a two-run double for Young Harris.

Perrucci and
Sarah Magill led the 11-hit attack with three hits apiece.

The Mountain Lions took a 2-0 lead in the second inning against Bellarmine on
Hannah Harrison's two-run homer – her second of 2016 - to center field.

The Knights scored twice in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-2 lead, but Young Harris sent 12 batters to the plate in the sixth inning and scored eight runs to open a 10-4 advantage. The big hits in the inning were three-run homers by Magill and
Georgia Webb. Magill's shot to left field was her third of the season while Webb's homer to left was her first. Harrison and Perrucci also drove in runs in the inning.

Young Harris added four more runs in the seventh.
Lindsay Tudor had a two-run double while Webb added a run-scoring double of her own.

Stanford (7-1) earned the win with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Harrison led the Mountain Lions with four hits while Perrucci,
Grace Botti and Webb each collected two hits. Webb drove in four runs while Harrison and Magill accounted for three RBI apiece.
