COLUMBUS, Ga. | Cam Baker's layup with 1.3 seconds remaining in overtime gave Columbus State University the 86-84 Peach Belt Conference men's basketball win over Young Harris College Saturday (Feb. 13) afternoon.

Columbus State and Young Harris are now tied for second place in the PBC West Division with 11-5 ledgers, one game behind the University of Montevallo with three games to play in the regular season. The top two teams in each division will host quarterfinal games of the PBC Tournament Feb. 27, while the next two teams in each division will have to go on the road.

The Cougars improved to 17-6 overall while the Mountain Lions fell to 13-12. Young Harris returns to the YHC Basketball Arena to face Georgia Southwestern State University in a 7:30 p.m. PBC contest Wednesday (Feb. 17).

Young Harris led by as many as 12 points (22-10) on a
Marcellus Roberts jumper in the paint with 8:25 remaining in the first half. The Mountain Lions, which shot 50 percent from the floor (15-of-30) in the opening 20 minutes, led 34-27 at the intermission.

The Mountain Lions pushed their lead back to 12 points (47-35) on a
Ben Waterhouse layup with 15:44 to go in regulation after a
C.J. Wilson steal. The Cougars fought back to take their first lead of the game at 72-71 on a JaCori Payne jumper with 3:10 to go.

The lead see-sawed between the two team the remainder of the regulation. Roberts sent the game into overtime at 76 on his layup with seven seconds left after a
Bjorn Walker offensive rebound.

It was more of the same in the overtime period as the Mountain Lions opened up a 79-76 lead on a jumper by
J.B. Charles with 4:17 remaining, but the Cougars came back to take a four-point lead (84-80) on a Brent Jackson layup with 39 seconds left. Wilson tied the game at 84 on two free throws and a layup with 12 seconds to go after a steal by Charles. Baker then hit his game-winning layup on the next possession for the Cougars. Young Harris wasn't able to get off a shot on the final possession.

Brent Jackson led the Cougars with 24 points while Baker added 22 more. Arben Camaj tossed in 14 points while Brentine Taylor and DeMarcus McVay had 10 points apiece. McVay led Columbus State with 11 rebounds.

Wilson led six YHC players in double figures with 24 points, six rebounds and five steals.
Ben Waterhouse added 13 points while Charles, Roberts, and
Marques McKoy each scored 11. Walker finished with 10 points and eight rebounds while McKoy led Young Harris with 11 rebounds.
