Waterhouse's career night leads YHC past Georgia College 96-87

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Ben Waterhouse's career-high 24 points led Young Harris College past Georgia College 96-87 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday (Jan. 27) evening at the Centennial Center.
 
The Mountain Lions improved to 11-9 overall and to 9-2 in the league while the Bobcats fell to 14-6 and 7-4. Young Harris will travel to Aiken, South Carolina, for a 3:30 p.m. Peach Belt game against the University of South Carolina Aiken.
 
Waterhouse was one of five players in double figures for the Mountain Lions. Marques McKoy finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds before he fouled out while C.J. Wilson added 19 points. Bjorn Walker added 12 points and 12 rebounds while Devin Coleman added 12 points.
 
Young Harris, which shot 50.8 percent from the field (30-of-59) and 55.0 percent from long range (11-of-20), took control of the contest with 19-3 run to take a 31-17 lead with 5:14 remaining in the first half on a Walker dunk. Sizemore had seven of his points during the decisive spurt. Georgia College was able to get the deficit in single digits as Young Harris led 36-27 at intermission.
 
The Mountain Lions pushed their lead to as many as 24 points (69-45) on a Walker three-pointer with 9:43 to go as Young Harris buried six three-pointers – three from Waterhouse - in the opening 10 minutes of the second half. YHC shot 60 percent (15-of-25) from the floor and hit seven of eight three-pointers (87.5 percent in the final 20 minutes. The closest the Bobcats would get the rest of the game was eight points (92-84) with 54 seconds remaining.
 
Terrell Harris led Georgia College with 27 points and Dwight Anderson added 16 more. Isaac Thomas (13) and Ryan Blumenthal (10) also finished in double figures.
