Joslin leads No. 5 Young Harris past Florida Southern 2-1

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – After giving up an early goal, the Young Harris College men's soccer team rallied for a 2-1 non-conference win over Florida Southern College Saturday (Sept. 5) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions, who are ranked No. 5 in the latest NSCAA Division II Top 25 poll, improved to 2-0-0 while the Mocs fell to 0-2-0. Young Harris returns to action Friday (Sept. 11) when they travel to Livingston, Alabama, for a 2 p.m. Central time match against the University of West Alabama.

Florida Southern took the 1-0 lead as Pablo Gallo Arias sent a through ball from midfield through the left side and Jonathan Radvogin was able to beat the YHC defense to knock the ball in the net at the 5:05 mark.

Tom Joslin, who leads the Mountain Lions with three goals this season, scored both of YHC goals. Alex Wyper served the ball in from the right side to Joslin at the far post who tied the match at 1 at the 25:52 mark. Wyper started the go-ahead goal as he served the ball in from the left side to Mikie Rowe at the top of the box, who flicked it to Joslin at the far post who booted the ball into the back of the net to give Young Harris a 2-1 lead at the 51:18 mark.

Young Harris outshot Florida Southern 12-5. Cole Clingerman recorded three saves for the Mocs while Jordan Bradshaw had two for the Mountain Lions in net.
