No. 24 Mountain Lions march past Saints 3-1

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | The Young Harris College men's soccer team scored three first half goals as the Mountain Lions defeated Flagler College 3-1 Saturday (Sept. 26) evening at Saints Field.
 
The 24th-ranked Mountain Lions picked up their 21st consecutive PBC regular-season victory and improved to 6-1-0 overall and to 3-0-0 in the league. The Saints fell to 2-2-1 and 2-1-0. The Mountain Lions step out of league competition Wednesday (Sept. 30) when they host Anderson (S.C.) University in a 7:30 p.m. contest at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
 
Young Harris jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 12:56 mark as Alex Wyper converted a penalty kick after YHC player was taken down in the box. The Mountain Lions took a firm grasp on the match as they scored two goals in a span of 25 seconds to open up a 3-0 lead midway through the half.
 
Lewis Hilton sent a through ball to Marco Micaletto on the right side and Micaletto knocked it in the left side of the net for his second goal of 2015. On the next possession for the Mountain Lions, Tom Joslin sent the ball from the left side to Mikie Rowe in the box. Rowe headed the ball in at the 21:54 mark for his fourth goal of the season.
 
Flagler got its lone goal in the 76th minute on a header from Samba Diop.
 
The match was a physical one as 45 fouls were whistled and eight cautions were booked between the two teams. Young Harris held a 17-8 advantage on shots and 8-3 on corner kicks. Jordan Bradshaw recorded three saves for the Mountain Lions in net while Lex Craggs had nine for the Saints.
