Mountain Lions take 20-1 win over Railsplitters

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Fourteen different players scored as Young Harris College recorded a 20-1 women's lacrosse victory over Lincoln Memorial University Wednesday (April 8) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 10-5 while the Railsplitters fell to 1-11. Young Harris will close out its most successful season in its short history April 18 when they host Shorter University at 4 p.m.

The 19-goal differential was the largest in the program's history and the one goal was the fewest allowed by the Mountain Lions, who scored the first 14 goals in the game.

Anna Kate Dulaney led Young Harris with three goals while Katie McNutt, Taylor Lincoln, Nicole Kernohan and Alexia Audet had two each. Meghan Tonnesen, Amanda Kernohan, Jordana Freitas, Ivey Franklin, Jessica DuBose, Breanna Farmer, Rachel Lepine, Jaclyn Kernohan and Anna Lummus recorded goals for the Mountain Lions. 

Amanda Kernohan and Tonnesen led YHC with two assists apiece while Dulaney, Franklin, Freitas and McNutt had one each.

Lincoln won five draw controls while Tonnesen and Dulaney had three apiece as the Mountain Lions held a 17-6 advantage in that category. The Mountain Lions also held a 37-10 advantage in ground balls as Dulaney and Nicole Kernohan led the way with five each.  Lincoln tallied four ground balls while Farmer and Jade Smith scooped up three each.

Sarah Nudelman and Carter Moore combined to stop four shots in goal for the Mountain Lions.
