MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Kaycee Cash led three Young Harris College women's basketball players in double figures with 12 points as the Mountain Lions defeated the University of Montevallo 67-44 in a Peach Belt Conference contest Wednesday (Feb. 25) evening at Trustmark Arena.
The Mountain Lions ended their season at 10-16 overall and 7-12 in the league while the Falcons fell to 1-25 and winless in 19 tries in the Peach Belt.
Young Harris, which led for the final 34 minutes, took lead for good at 11-10 on a three-pointer by Briana Bell with 14:05 remaining. That started a 24-8 run as Young Harris opened up a 32-18 lead on a Cash layup with 1:58 left in the first half.
The Mountain Lions, who led 38-22 at the half, expanded their lead to 48-24 on a Jasmine Knight jumper with 14:19 to play as Young Harris scored 10 of the first 12 points in the second half. The Mountain Lions led by as many as 26 points (65-39) after Virginia Scott hit two free throws with 2:05 left.
Shereese Williams and Peyton Robertson added 10 points each while Cash and Robertson paced the Mountain Lions with eight rebounds apiece as Young Harris held a 52-29 advantage on the boards. Scott tossed in nine points while Bell finished with eight.
Katherine Goldsby led the Falcons with 13 points.
