COLUMBUS, Ga. – Young Harris College dropped a Peach Belt Conference baseball doubleheader to Columbus State University Saturday (Feb. 21) afternoon at Ragsdale Field.
Columbus State took the opener 12-0 before recording a 14-2 decision in game two. The Cougars improved to 10-4 overall and to 3-3 in the league while the Mountain Lions fell to 5-8 and 2-4. Young Harris returns to action next Saturday (Feb. 28) with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina.
Caden Ferguson (2-0) allowed seven hits and struck out seven over eight innings in the opener for the Cougars. Donald Frew (0-2) took the loss for the Mountain Lions.
Nick Sexton and Zach Odom had two hits each for Young Harris in the opener.
Bryan Headley (2-1) scattered six hits and struck out nine for the Cougars while Cole Amtmann (1-1) took the loss for Young Harris.
Sexton, Odom and Blake Suggs had two hits apiece in the nightcap for the Mountain Lions. Suggs had an RBI-single in the sixth while Logan Bell had a pinch-hit homer to right-center field.
