COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Young Harris College softball team suffered two losses Sunday (Feb. 15) on the final day of Lady Cougars Classic.
The Mountain Lions fell to 7-5 as they suffered a 10-0 defeat (5 innings) to the Florida Institute of Technology and a 6-3 loss to Lincoln Memorial University.
Young Harris will return to action Thursday (Feb. 19) when they host Erskine College in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at E.D. Rivers Field.
In the opener against Florida Tech, Taylor Smith tossed a two-hitter against Young Harris, allowing hits to Murphy Davis and Jeanie Perrucci. Hannah Harrison (0-2) took the loss for the Mountain Lions.
Lincoln Memorial scored five runs in the first inning against Darby Stanford (5-1) and made that stand up against Young Harris. Young Harris rallied in the third inning with three runs against Samantha Smith (3-1). Georgia Webb had a two-run single up the middle and added an unearned run on a Railsplitter error.
Webb, Stacia Williams, Sarah Magill and Perrucci each had a hit for the Mountain Lions against LMU.
