Rollins rallies late for 5-3 win over Mountain Lions

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Rollins College scored twice in the sixth inning to rally for a 5-3 baseball victory over Young Harris College Sunday (Feb. 1) afternoon at Alfond Stadium.

The Tars improved to 2-1 while the Mountain Lions slipped to 1-2. Young Harris will return to Zell B. Miller Field Saturday (Feb. 7) for their 1 p.m. doubleheader against Shorter University.

Zach Persky led off the bottom of the first for Rollins before the Mountain Lions pushed across two runs in the second inning. Zach Wall led off the inning with a single, was sacrificed to second by Troy Kizer and scored on a triple by Blake Suggs, who later came around on Spencer Thomas' single to center field.

Young Harris made it 3-1 on a Brett Westmoreland RBI single in the third. The Tars got the run back in their half of the inning on a double steal.

Rollins tied the game at 3 in the sixth on a RBI sacrifice bunt by Philip Burket. The Tars took the lead later in the inning on Cam Brown's bases-loaded walk.

Rollins added an insurance run in the eighth on Brown's sacrifice fly.

Seth Brenner (1-0) earned the win with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief while Adam Ogburn earned his first save with five strikeouts in 2.2 innings. William Leatherwood (0-1) took the loss in relief for Young Harris.

Young Harris had 10 hits, but left nine runners stranded on base. Nick Sexton, Wall and Suggs each collected two hits for the Mountain Lions.
