Ben Waterhouse lead Young Harris College with 18 points apiece to lead five Mountain Lions players in double figures as YHC defeated Flagler College 84-71 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday (Dec. 19) afternoon at the YHC Basketball Arena.

The Mountain Lions improved to 4-7 overall, but to 2-0 in the Peach Belt. The Saints slipped to 4-6 and 0-2. Young Harris will take the next two weeks off for the holiday break before they return to host PBC-foe Clayton State University Jan. 2 in a 3:30 p.m. contest.

Young Harris enjoyed its best night shooting from the floor as the connected on 47.8 percent (33-of-69) of their attempts and held a 45-33 margin on the glass. The Mountain Lions scored 22 points off Flagler's 13 turnovers and added 19 second-chance points.

YHC broke the game open in the latter stages of the first half as used a 10-4 run to open up a 42-33 lead with 2:33 to play after J.B, Charles connected on one of eight three-pointers the Mountain Lions hit in the game. Young Harris took a 10-point lead into the half at 47-37.

Young Harris continued adding to its lead in the second half as they by double figures over the final 20 minutes. Young Harris took a 20-point lead (74-54) on a
Marcellus Roberts jumper in the paint with 9:25 remaining.

Wilson added nine assists – eight in the first half – and three steals while Waterhouse added five assists. Charles posted 15 points.
Marques McKoy and Roberts each recorded a double double for the Mountain Lions. McKoy scored 14 points and grabbed a career-tying 15 rebounds while Roberts added 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Roberts and McKoy each recorded two blocks as the Mountain Lions recorded a season-high eight blocked shots.

Keith Gray led Flagler with 16 points and nine rebounds while Matt Clark tallied 14 points. Keshaun Hamilton (13) and Ben Bobbitt (12) also finished in double figures for the Saints. Hamilton also pulled down seven rebounds.Â
