YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Meredith Tarver led a balanced Young Harris College balanced attack with 10 points as the Mountain Lions picked up a 66-46 women's basketball victory over Reinhardt University Tuesday (Nov. 24) evening at the YHC Basketball Arena.

The Mountain Lions improved to 3-1 while the Eagles fell to 2-5. Young Harris travels to Pensacola, Florida, Saturday (Nov. 28) for a noon Central time contest against the University of West Florida.

Young Harris led for all but 16 seconds as they picked up its second straight win. The Mountain Lions led 42-23 at the intermission as they shot a season-best 51.6 percent (16-of-31) in the opening 20 minutes from the field. Young Harris held a 44-33 advantage on the rebounds as the Mountain Lions scored 16 second-chance points. YHC also forced the Eagles into 24 turnovers which translated into 23 points for the Mountain Lions.

"Another great defensive effort by our team," said YHC head coach Matt Stearsman. "That's two in a row that we've held someone under 50. I was proud of the intensity that we had in the first half and we only had one or two sequences in the second half where I didn't think we were playing as hard as we could. Now we have to get ready for a very talented West Florida team. This will be a very tough test for us on the road Saturday."

Tarver led Young Harris with 10 points and five rebounds while Jenny Vernet and Savannah Anderson scored eight apiece, Anderson also grabbed seven rebounds, including five offensive. Virginia Scott and Briana Bell each tallied seven points and Sarah Garner added six more. Jasmine Knight led the Mountain Lions with eight assists, five rebounds and three steals while Jada Williams pulled down five rebounds and Keta Robinette had five steals.

Jada Hubbard led Reinhardt with 12 points and Danielle Pray added 10. Kateca Favors grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and added nine points.
