YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Amber Watkins scored twice as the University of North Carolina at Pembroke rallied for a 4-2 Peach Belt Conference women's soccer victory over Young Harris College Saturday (Oct. 24) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Braves improved to 7-7-0 overall and to 5-3-0 in the Peach Belt while the Mountain Lions slipped to 4-9-0 and 2-7-0. Young Harris continues its homestand Wednesday (Oct. 28) when they host Clayton State University in a 7:30 p.m. PBC encounter.

Young Harris took a quick 1-0 lead as a UNCP defender, who was trying to clear the ball out of the box, knocked it in for an own goal at the 3:56 mark. The Braves tied the match at 1 when Stacey Scott scored off a Mackenzie Wright throw in 20 minutes later.

The Mountain Lions retook the lead at the 30:27 mark when
Elin Petersen headed in
Olivia Goddard's direct kick for a 2-1 advantage. It was her first strike of 2015.

Watkins, who has scored four goals, tied the match at 2 in the opening minutes of the second half as she knocked in a rebound before Watkins gave UNCP the lead for good at the 52:23 mark as she scored after Scott sent the ball into the box. The Braves added an insurance goal as Christine Rolfes scored from 35 yards out when her shot deflected off the crossbar and into the goal.

UNC Pembroke held a slim 17-12 advantage in shots while the Mountain Lions held a 4-2 cushion in corner kicks. UNCP goalkeeper stopped eight shots while
Arielle Charles had four saves.
