YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College picked up a 3-0 Peach Belt Conference men's soccer shutout over the University of North Carolina at Pembroke Saturday (Oct. 24) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
 
The Mountain Lions, who are ranked No. 23 nationally by the NSCAA and ranked No. 1 in the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Rankings, improved to 11-3-0 overall and to 6-1-0 in the league. UNC Pembroke fell to 5-6-2 and 1-4-2. Young Harris continues its homestand Wednesday (Oct. 28) when they host Clayton State University in a 5 p.m. PBC match.
 
Young Harris, which held a 15-6 advantage in shots, took a 1-0 lead at the 14:29 mark. Mikie Rowe gets the ball at the top of the box and makes a quick pass to Piers Oldland on his left flank. Oldland puts the ball in the back of the net for his second goal of 2015.
 
The Mountain Lions scored back-to-back goals in a 40-second span midway through the second half to put the match out of reach.
 
Alex Wyper passes the ball to Tom Joslin, who finds Jake Simpson at the far post with his cross, and Simpson converted the chance for his fifth goal at the 75:33 mark. On the next possession for the Mountain Lions, Wyper passes across the top of the box to Lewis Hilton on the right side and Hilton knocked the ball into the left corner of the net for his fifth tally of 2015.
 
Young Harris keeper Jordan Bradshaw recorded two saves as he notched his third shutout of the season for the Mountain Lions while Kenneth Perkinson had three stops for the Braves.
