GREENWOOD, S.C. | Logan Lewis' penalty kick was the difference as Lander University edged Young Harris College 1-0 in overtime in a Peach Belt Confrerence women's soccer match Wednesday (Oct. 21) afternoon at Van Taylor Stadium.
The Bearcats improved to 7-5-0 overall and to 5-3-0 in the Peach Belt while the Mountain Lions fell to 4-8-0 and 2-6-0. Young Harris returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 24) when they open a three-match homestand at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field. It will be Family Weekend and Kids Day at Saturday's match.
Lewis, who scored her seventh goal of 2015, was awarded the penalty kick after a YHC defender slid into a Lander player inside the box. Lewis' game-winner went into the right corner of the net past Young Harris goalkeeper
Arielle Charles, who had stopped 11 shots.
The Mountain Lions had 10 shots in the match.
Elin Petersen had two shots on goal while
Amber Matthews,
Sydney Baird and
