GREENWOOD, S.C. | Michael Leach scored twice as Lander University picked up a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference men's soccer victory over  No. 23 Young Harris College Wednesday (Oct. 21) evening at the Van Taylor Stadium.

Lander, which is ranked No. 4 in the first NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Rankings, improved to 11-2-0 overall and 5-2-0 in the Peach Belt, while Young Harris, which is the No. 1 team in the regional rankings, fell to 10-3-0 and 5-1-0. In the process, the Bearcats snapped the Mountain Lions' 24-game PBC regular-season victory streak. The Mountain Lions kick off a three-match homestand Saturday (Oct. 24) when they host PBC-foe University of North Carolina at Pembroke at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field..

The Bearcats jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first half as Russell Parker and Leach scored in a two-minute stretch. Parker's goal, his first of the season, came at the 19:11 mark from in front of the goal off a Sinclaire Sandy pass.Leach found the back of the net at 21:10 when he scored his fourth goal of the season off a pass from Richard Bryan.

Young Harris got a score before halftime on a Lewis Hilton penalty kick at the 38:46 mark. It was his fourth goal of 2015, Leach closed out the scoring at 49:11 after his shot slipped in the left side of the goal off an assist from Stevan Gonzalez.

Young Harris outshot the Bearcats, 16-10, and led in corner kicks, 3-2. The Mountain Lions had chances to extend the match as a Lander defender cleared a shot off the line that looked destined to find the back of the net and Young Harris didn't convert a penalty kick opportunity.

Lander goalkeeper Barrett Nielsen totaled six saves, while the Mountain Lions' Jordan Bradshaw had four.
