Mountain Lions neutralize Hurricanes 3-0

AMERICUS, Ga. | Young Harris College picked up a 3-0 Peach Belt Conference women's soccer victory over Georgia Southwestern State University Saturday (Oct. 17) afternoon at Hurricane Field.
 
The Mountain Lions improved to 4-7-0 overall and to 2-5-0 in the Peach Belt with their second shutout of the season. The Hurricanes fell to 2-10-0 and 0-7-0. Young Harris will return to action Wednesday (Oct. 21) when they travel to Greenwood, South Carolina, for a 4:30 p.m. match against Lander University.
 
Young Harris, which outshot Georgia Southwestern 30-5 (19-3 on goal), took a 1-0 lead right before halftime as Camila Neveleff scored her fourth goal of 2015 off a loose ball. It was Neveleff's fourth goal of 2015. The Mountain Lions took a 2-0 lead on Sydney Baird's second goal of the season off an assist from Karly Zacharias at the 56:59 mark. Regan Wilhite closed out the scoring at the 79:36 mark when she scored off a Neveleff cross in front of the keeper. It was Wilhite's third goal of the campaign.
 
Arielle Charles and Kylie Mason combined for three saves in goal to combine on the shutout. Elyse Gowen had 16 saves in goal for the Hurricanes.
