AMERICUS, Ga. | Paco Craig scored twice as the Young Harris College men's soccer team picked up a 2-1 Peach Belt Conference men's soccer victory over Georgia Southwestern State University Saturday (Oct. 17) afternoon at Hurricane Field.
The No. 16-ranked Mountain Lions won their 24
th consecutive regular season Peach Belt match as they improved to 10-2-0 overall and to 5-0-0 in the Peach Belt while the Hurricanes fell to 1-8-2 and 0-5-1. Young Harris remains on the road as they travel to Greenwood, South Carolina, for a 7 p.m. encounter against No. 21 Lander University Wednesday (Oct. 21).
Young Harris, which outshot Georgia Southwestern 21-4 (13-1 on goal), took a 1-0 lead at the 15:43 mark. Craig, who has five goals this season, scored off a
Lewis Hilton corner kick. It was Hilton's seventh assist in 2015 as Young Harris held an 11-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Georgia Southwestern tied the match at 1 as Chris Steinwachs scored at the 57:41 mark on a long pass from Brennan Bauschka. Young Harris regained the lead less than four minutes later as Craig scored in front of the goal after taking a pass from
Marco Micaletto.
