SAVANNAH, Ga. | Armstrong State University scored two goals in the opening 91 seconds as the Pirates defeated Young Harris College 3-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match at the Armstrong State Soccer Field on a rainy Saturday (Oct. 10) afternoon.
The Pirates improved to 6-3-2 overall and to 3-1-2 in the Peach Belt while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-6-0 and to 1-5-0. Young Harris steps out of conference action for the final time in 2015 as they will host Carson-Newman University in a 5 p.m. match at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field Wednesday (Oct. 14).
Armstrong State scored 22 seconds into when Taylor Valley scored on a rebound off Jenny Allen's initial shot. Amanda Green scored the Pirates' second goal off a Valley through ball. Allen tallied ASU's final goal at the 39:19 mark on an Allen header after Sarah Olin's header went off the crossbar.
Arielle Charles recorded nine saves for the Mountain Lions while Morgan Luckie had four for the Pirates. Young Harris got its shots from
