FLORENCE, S.C. – C.J. Wilson scored 19 points for Young Harris College but it wasn't enough as Francis Marion University picked up an 80-57 Peach Belt Conference men's basketball victory over the Mountain Lions Saturday (Jan. 17) afternoon at the Smith University Center.
The Patriots improved to 9-8 overall and 1-7 in the league while Young Harris fell to 5-9 and 2-6. The Mountain Lions will return to action Monday (Jan. 19) at 3:30 p.m. when they host Georgia Regents University Augusta at the YHC Basketball Arena.
DilJon Allen-Jordan and Detrek Browning combined for 47 points as the Patriots shot 50.8 percent (33-of-65) from the floor. Allen-Jordan, who scored 24 points, grabbed 13 rebounds as Francis Marion held a 51-29 advantage on the glass and outscored the Mountain Lions 50-30 in the paint. Browning finished with 23 points and dished out nine assists. Mike Davis Jr. added 12 points for Francis Marion, which led by as many as 28 points, while Judah Alexander grabbed 10 rebounds.
Wilson also led Young Harris, which trailed 43-28 at the half, with seven rebounds and five assists. Herdie Lawrence added 11 points and six rebounds for the Mountain Lions, who shot 34.3 percent (23-of-67) from the floor, while Kevin Altidor contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.
